Nov. 24, 1998 — Alaska State Troopers are looking for a woman whom friends and family fear may be in desperate need of help.
Maryellen McMillin, 37, disappeared mysteriously Saturday night. She had planned to attend a party thrown by a close friend, but was too disoriented to giver her sister directions to the friends house.
Her sister dropped her off at home, told her to stay put and returned a short time later. By then McMillin apparently had left her Steele Creek Road residence in her car. In the two days since, she hasn’t answered her cell phone or responded to pages. On Monday, she failed to show up at Sportsmedicine Fairbanks where she works as a physicians assistant.

At Bearson’s request, borough animal control officers killed about three-quarters of the birds, an estimated 1,200 chickens, on Wednesday. They were to kill the remaining chickens today.
