Published Friday, November 21, 2008

WASILLA, Alaska -- The city of Palmer is seeking its first new fire chief after 39 years.

Fire Chief Dan Contini, who has a station named for him, is resigning at the end of this year.

In a letter to emergency service workers in Palmer, Contini says he has enjoyed his nearly four decades as chief.

Palmer public safety director Jon Owen says advertisements for the chief's job are posted.

One says the city is looking for a replacement with at least seven years experience as a fire department manager or supervisor.
