Interior Alaska residents named to state boards

FAIRBANKS — A handful of Interior Alaska residents are included among recent appointees to state boards and commissions by Gov. Sarah Palin.

Michael R. Pollen of Fairbanks was reappointed to the Water and Wastewater Works Advisory Board. Pollen is the owner of consulting firm Northern Testing, and is a water and wastewater consultant with 36 years of experience in Alaska. He has served on the board since 1998.

Bernie Karl of Fairbanks was reappointed to the Natural Resources Conservation and Development Board. A board member since 2005, Karl owns Chena Hot Springs Resort and K&K Recycling, among other businesses.

Mike Miller of North Pole was appointed to the State Officers Compensation Commission. He is the owner of Santa Claus House in North Pole and is a former legislator and commissioner of the Department of Administration.

Freddie L. Wells, an Alaska State Trooper sergeant in Tok, was named to the Police Standards Council. Dirk D. Nickisch, a commercial pilot from Coldfoot and owner of Coyote Air, was appointed to the Big Game Commercial Services Board.
