KENAI, Alaska -- The Alaska state senator representing much of the Kenai Peninsula is in California for medical treatment.

Kenai Republican Tom Wagoner has entered Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment of an undisclosed condition.

Wagoner's office says he expects to be out of Alaska for eight weeks.

Wagoner says he expects a full recovery because the condition was caught early.

Wagoner's daughter and son-in-law live near Loma Linda.

Wagoner was re-elected to a four-year term Nov. 4.
