Palin denounces her critics as cowardly

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin called her critics cowards Friday for deriding her anonymously and insisted she never asked for the expensive wardrobe purchased for her use on the presidential campaign.
“I never asked for anything more than a Diet Dr. Pepper once in a while,” Palin said as she returned to the governor’s office from her two-month odyssey as the GOP vice presidential nominee. She said the Republican National Committee paid for the tens of thousands of dollars in designer clothes and accessories.
“Those are the RNC’s clothes. They’re not my clothes. I never forced anybody to buy anything,” she said.
Republican Party lawyers are still trying to determine exactly what clothing was purchased for Palin at such high-end stores as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus, what was returned and what has become of the rest.
She particularly lashed out at the anonymous Republican campaign sources cited in a Fox News report who said she did not know Africa was a continent, not a country, and could not name the three countries in the North American Free Trade Agreement — Canada, the United States and Mexico.
“I consider it cowardly” that they did not allow their names to be used, she said.
Palin said those allegations aren’t true. She recalled discussing Africa and NAFTA with aides who prepared her for the vice presidential debate with Democrat Joe Biden.
“If there are allegations based on questions or comments that I made in debate prep about NAFTA, and about the continent vs. the country when we talk about Africa there, then those were taken out of context,” she said. “That’s cruel, It’s mean-spirited. It’s immature. It’s unprofessional and those guys are jerks if they came away with it, taking things out of context and then tried to spread something on national news. It’s not fair, and it’s not right.”
Palin also said she would not call on Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, to resign, although last month, before his re-election bid, she said he should “step aside” and “play a very statesmanlike role in this now.” Stevens, 84, was found guilty on seven counts of trying to hide more than $250,000 in free home renovations and other gifts that he received from a wealthy oil contractor.
Three days after the election, Stevens, the longest serving Republican in Senate history, is about 3,500 votes ahead of Democratic challenger Mark Begich with thousands of absentee ballots to be counted in the next two weeks.
Said Palin on Friday: “The Alaska voters have spoken and me not being a dictator, won’t be telling anyone what to do.”
When asked if she would call on him to resign, Palin said: “Not after the will of the people has been made manifest via that vote.”
Meanwhile, RNC lawyers are discussing with Palin whether what’s left of the clothing and accessories purchased for her on the campaign trail will go to charity, back to stores or be paid for by Palin, a McCain-Palin campaign official said Friday, speaking on condition of anonymity because the campaign hadn’t authorized comment.
The sorting should be completed in the next four or five days, the campaign official said, declining to say whether the RNC was sending anyone to Alaska to help take inventory.
The RNC spent at least $150,000 on designer clothing, accessories and beauty services for Palin after she became John McCain’s running mate in September. The spending included $75,062 at Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis; $49,425 at Saks Fifth Avenue; $9,447 at Macy’s; and $789 at the luxury retailer Barneys New York. Some of the purchases were for Palin family members, such as $4,902 spent at upscale men’s clothier Atelier and $92 at Pacifier, a Minneapolis baby boutique.
The McCain-Palin campaign said about a third of the clothing was returned immediately because it was the wrong size, or for other reasons. However, other purchases were apparently made after that, the campaign official said.
The spending drew a complaint against Palin and the RNC by a Washington government watchdog group. Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission accusing Palin and the GOP of violating a federal ban on the use of campaign funds for personal expenses such as clothing.
The RNC didn’t respond to repeated requests by The Associated Press for comment Friday.
It’s routine for candidates to get professional hair and makeup services at campaign expense before they go on camera, but Palin’s shopping spree at GOP donors’ expense is unusual. It contrasted with the down-to-earth “hockey mom” image that Palin sought to craft and gave the campaign unwanted publicity in the form of newspaper headlines, Internet chatter and comedians’ jokes.
FEC spokesman Bob Biersack declined to comment on the spending beyond confirming that the commission has received CREW’s complaint.

I am glad to share my taste of Diet Dr. Pepper with Sarah, ... and yes, of course, disdain for cowardly critics.
Get em Sarah! I love that she isn't afraid to call these "jerks" out.
ugh...ok no more sarah news, please!
I wonder what John McCain has to say about his staffers who pulled this BS?
"ugh...ok no more sarah news, please!"
Get used to it AKHockeyFan, she is now unofficially running for president in 2012. Beings that the American electorate has a very short memory she is going to need exposure on a monthly basis and I predict many more news stories, interviews and what have you about Sarah. Good or bad, it is all good for her exposure to the nation. The Governor job might be "cool" but she has her sights on something much much bigger.
what meany-heads
AFRICA!!! NAFTA!! wow so these are these people that are in charge. AWESOME!!
GO SARAH!!! go all the way out of Alaska and go back to school
And no the trip wont be paid for and there is no per diem sorry...Todd
I'll criticize her right to her face.
"It’s not fair, and it’s not right.” she said. What about charging per diem to sleep in her own bed? What about charging the State for her family "outings" that ARE NOT required by statute? It isn't fair and it's not right. Just because it keeps happening does not mean it's ethical.
"That’s cruel, It’s mean-spirited. It’s immature. It’s unprofessional and those guys are jerks if they came away with it, taking things out of context and then tried to spread something on national news. It’s not fair, and it’s not right.”
This goes for the bloggers spreading the gossip too. It's just as unfabricated as the muslim gossip Obama gets. How is it any different???
That's right Dognabber lets grip enough about her charging money and her ethics violations so we can spend another $100,000 to investigate....
Liberals nationwide are scared to death of our Governor. Even with 90% of the press doing their dirty work on Sarah they still can't stop. Are all Liberals that insecure?
I wouldn't be quick to defend Governor Palin until the RNC does their own audit and investigation. I don't see her running for President in 2012, namely because the GOP won't even start selecting anyone until they know how the future Administration will turn out. The GOP is going to look more at the next two years and regaining the Senate and House. Palin burned alot of bridges within the GOP.
oops "gripe"
Draconianslacker Do you think she will get fair treatment from the RNC?
Let's see...she made public statements saying Stevens should resign...but now she says she did not make public statements saying he should resign.
She said at least three times in broadcast interviews with Gibson and Kouric et al that the vice president has authority over the Senate when in truth the only involvement the vp has is to cast a vote when there is a tie.
She has the ability to say "no" plainly and simply...but she never said it for the $150k+ spent on her wardrobe. She never said it for the $22,800/mo. hairstylist/make-up technician hired to work on her.
She gave speeches inciting people to shout out "Kill him" and "Off with his head"...and she just stood there and grinned.
And now she's standing around crying and playing the poor little innocent who never did anything wrong but all these big mean bullies were always doing terrible things to her. Oh, poor little Sarah...
Truly, she is Dan Quayle in lipstick. The only thing more ludicrous, perhaps, are her airheaded Palinistas such as we see posting in here about her holiness, the Sarah. While all the rest of the nation is laughing at her while she winks and mugs for the camera we see these posters almost breathless with adoration, worshipping at her altar. Gads! No wonder the rest of the states think we are a bunch of backwoods hicks!
Seriously dobieman, you and one other person (she knows who I'm talking about) do nothing but come out spewing filth. You expect us to take your comments seriously while you unapologetically call us names such as "airheaded Palinistas."
You're candidate won, gloat all you want. Give the hate speech a rest and go buy a puppy or something.
but, but.. dobieman feels so much better about himself when he can criticize and speak bitterly towards everyone and anyone but himself. Why can't you see his genius?
FYI news you will NOT See in print.
This AM CNBC (the stock market ch) Reported:
1) Ford motor company has about $27 billion in the bank they are using the money to tide them over till cars start selling again.
2) Ford spun off their $60 billion union pension fund to be managed by the union. Ford had agreed to put $25 into the $60 billion fund prior to the auto sales market crash.
3) Ford has ask the Federal Government for $25 billion to pay off THEIR debt to the union pension fund.
4) If Ford does not get the money they probaly will default -- which means Ford's credit rating will probably to to zero.
5) In my opinion, if pay they will be forced in to bankruptcy because they cannot survive on $3 billion for very long (probably a few months)
6) The taxpayers have all ready loaned the Michigan auto industry 25 billion to re-tool and they voted for Obama.
7)Obama wants President Bush to give them the money before he comes into office.
Humm, the unions backed Obama NOT McCain and he is using federal money to pay them back for their votes.
I would let Obama ask the blue states to give the auto worker's union $25 billion.
I am sure the governors will be happy to agree!
Wow, $850,000 billion Wall Street Bailout and Trig's going to jail over $92.00 at a baby boutique. Why is it okay for the DNC to pay for Michelle Obama's clothing, I'd like to see the figures on that and she's not even in the running??? I've said it before and I'll say it again, she'd be blasted if she were campaining in carharts and snowpants too.
Sarah in 2012? She'd better read at least one newspaper and maybe a (gasp) book or two before she tries that one.
But wait, I forgot, her supporters don't read so what the heck, dumb it down! Just repeat what Michael Savage says and it'll be just fine, right?
i am wondering how badly they would've TORN HER APART if she wore carhartts and bunny boots instead of them dressing her up like a barbie doll????
there is no way in hell she would've come out on top ..catch 22!!
Hey, what's wrong with girls in Bunny Boots? I can dig it.
A certain fact....If Governor Palin had been the Presidential candiate instead of McCain....she would have been President Elect Palin today...
The story about the $150K on clothing means NOTHING until they report on some figures for the Obama/Biden campaign. How about Obama spending over $100K on a sound system for a speech in Berlin?? His lavish meals - multitudes of steaks, lobster tails etc following his nomination??? THEY ALL DO IT! It isnt a story until all figures are on the table. Yes, $150K on clothes is outrageous but I am sure Obama/Biden didnt buy their suits at Walmart!
Yes, all the McCain campaign workers who spread the stories were cowardly, but Sarah Pallin is still a very ignorant person.
1. Abstinance Only?
2. Africa a country?
3. Sarkozy?
4. Dinosaurs walked the earth with man?
I rest my case! Consider how lucky the country was that she lost.
CNN 4:40 PM Friday reports that Rasmussen pole shows Sarah is the top pick among Republicans.
Taters, really, how can you group all the people who supported Sarah Palin into one group? It's ridiculous to say they don't read. It's like saying that all Obama's supporters are far left wing liberal lunatics, which we all know isn't true, either. Why don't you do something constructive with your post?
...or better yet, Taters. Help your buddy dobieman and go buy him a puppy he can love.
Sarah the martyr????? Get over it folks....no matter which way you bake it, she's an air head....savvy, but a damn intellectual embarrassment right up there with the political embarassment Uncle ted.
I think Sarah did a great job!! I would be proud to call her my commander in chief......oh yea I allready do.
"I will give the Democrat's president as much respect as they gave mine"
What is best is to see the necessity to continually bash her, while giving the Messiah, his cronies, his connections, his wife, his kids, his aunt, his 'gunna', his 'pie', his loan/house, his voting record, his defense DOCTRINE, ETC... a pass on everything.
McCain was coming out for his 'partisan' Senate ties in calling for Ted to walk, and that announcement was made jointly, a failed, last ditch, the-senate-hangs-together effort, 'twisting' her arm so to speak... ok?
The daily per diem would be HIGHER at a downtown hotel... grasp that.
If she's smart, and has those 2012 'designs' demoncrats are so freatful of, she'll wait until the Senate does their thing, launching Ted. I believe she could then temporarily appoint herself to Ted's seat, win the election shortly thereafter, zapping Begich or Berkowitz, and while doing so, get the hell out of Dodge... because all she'll ever see again from ALASKAN critics is mudslingig and a continuous tar and feather job. Sweet job supporting your own... and adn, French, Philips, dnm, and many here, can all be proud of taking a stand... hope y'all reap what you deserve/earned.
Being a short-term senator worked for the Messiah... follow his path, then watch the whack-jobs bark about that...
Will we swing into bashing Knowles now... he's being considered for the Interior post? Probably not. He gets a pass.
stop picking on sarah. She taxed the rick oil companies so she could redistrubite their wealth to us. This is great. We love welfare and Sarah is for welfare. With her and Ted on board we can sit back and collect our welfare. Yeah for welfare. Yeah for Sarah taxing the rich. woopeeeeeeee
Dobieman said:
"""Gads! No wonder the rest of the states think we are a bunch of backwoods hicks!"""
ROFL As a proud, gun-toting, oil drilling, sulfide mining, snowmachine-riding backwoods hick; I don't have the slightest problem with that. Therefore, having a gun-toting, moose-shooting, geographically(possibly)challenged backwoods hick Governor only seems appropriate.
Welcome home, Sarah. From one backwoods hick to another there's always a cup of coffee waiting and a warm seat by the fire.
Chewtoy, That was not a tax on the rich. That was paying Alaskans a small portion of what is due
Tundra Rebellion don't forget those of us that clinch to our religion and our guns
Palin asked for every word that has been said about her. She thought she was Cinderella at the Ball, and all she was, was a painted up country gal overcome with a little bit of attention. Really pathetic.
charliebussell-surely you've got to be kidding...Sarah would have been our president elect if she had been running for president? That opinion certainly is in direct opposition to the widely held assertion that her candidacy was a liability to the GOP and was probably the reason that McCain/Palin did so poorly. Even if Sarah attended a reputable college full-time for the next 4 years she would still fall short of the knowledge and inherent intelligence necessary for a presidential candidate.
Why do we condone bad behavior? Sarah screwed up in so many ways launching her political career. The prime question should be: Will she learn from it and do better? Or, is it business as usual. Ted screwed up in his long career and finally got taken to the mat. Young the same. The others that are already in jail..was it worth it? So much can be done when you concentrate on doing the RIGHT thing. Why do we stand by and praise people who refuse to see their mistakes and just keep taking...because they can.
I think you Alaskans need to have some investigations into your state officials and senators in Washington. So far the rest of the world is not impressed with your selections.
When I was a kid, my dads friends had a fish tank in their living room. The tank held three pirahna's. Two of them, would pick on the third. After relentless attacks, the third finally backed itself into the furthest recess of the tank, waiting. After a few months, growing stronger and meaner (see where Im going) It came out of it seclusion and killed and ate the other two. True story. But they are just fish. I'm not a Palin supporter, but I dont think we have seen or heard the last from her.
NolaUrels
The world hopes you are VERY wrong. But let me say this: the republican party (the ones in charge) have had it with Palin, they don't want anything else to do with her. The democrats certainly do not want her - so what party is she going to be heading up??
mnmwhit-small portion of what is due?
Are you saying Alaskans are entitled to money rich folks make?
Sarah over taxing the oil companies, who are just trying to making a buck like the rest of us is a classic case of government over steping their boundrys and a slipperly slope towards full-on socialism. First Sarah taxes the rich and then sends each of us a check, what next?
Free medical care for all. We can't allow that to happen. Next thing ya know you'll start using words like we own the resources as a collective, and its our oil, and they make so much any way, whats a little tax. What ever happened to a free market economy when even the republican v.p. candiate is a huge fan of welfare? Woopppeee tax the rich send, send us more checks....
hadrian38--I'll remind you again. The election is over--so get back to your own politics.
First of all, the critics that Palin was calling cowards are the ones in McCain's own staff - and I agree with her. They were on the same team and should not have said what they said to FOX or any other media outlet. It undermined their own campaign. I don't think Palin would call people who openly criticize her, cowards, because even she said, "its politics, you have to get a thick skin in politics".
Is that a whine I hear....
This from the same woman who asserted "Fair or unfair—and I do think that it's a more concentrated criticism that Hillary gets on so many fronts; I think that's unfortunate. But fair or unfair, I think she does herself a disservice to even mention it, really. You have to plow through that and know what you're getting into. I say this with all due respect to Hillary Clinton and to her experience and to her passion for changing the status quo. But when I hear a statement like that coming from a women candidate with any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism or a sharper microscope put on her, I think, man, that doesn't do us any good. Women in politics, women in general wanting to progress this country, I don't think it bodes well for her, a statement like that. Because, again, fair or not fair it is there. I think it's reality and it's a given, people just accept that she's going to be under a sharper microscope. So be it. Work harder, prove to yourself to an even greater degree that you're capable, that you're going to be the best candidate. That's what she wants us to believe at this point. So it bothers me a little bit to hear her bring that attention to herself on that level."
Wow, the hypocrisy of this woman and Republicans is endless!
Sarah has always been a mud-slinger. Seems like her skin is getting thin.....
Ok, I've been trying to stay out of this all day, but...
The truth is, Palin's contribution to this article can be summed up as:
Waahhhh! Waaaahhhh!
Those big meanie jerks are pickin' on me!
Waaahhh! Waaaahhh!
----
So, grow up, will ya? Stop your whining. I thought you wanted to be the leader of the free world? You want that, but you can't even take a little (possibly unfounded) criticism?
Hell, I've had people on here say far worse about me. You don't hear me whining...
Geez.
Sigh. Couldn't Sarah have stayed in Arizona?
It's amazing to me that folks like pinhead, want2ski and hadrain38 who don't even live in Alaska, read such a small town newspaper then blast all of us small towners for being ignorant. Is there nothing going on in their cities or towns that is more interesting??
Palin is our governer, I'm glad you have a voice but I have a vote and I used it to elect Palin.
Just now the RNC chairman was on the news stating that he has on idea who is "leaking" the untrue rumors, he said her clothes have been sent back and he has no idea why "someone" would be leaking false information to media outlets.
With girls giving themselves black eyes, and carving backwards B's into their faces, Hundreds of salacious phone calls, maligning of her geographic ablilities, and impugning of her diplomatic prowess...she may want to go with the independents or even become QUEEN OF THE NATION OF ALASKIOV. Sounds as if the GOP thing ain't working out too well.
thanks for the update akrose.
What happened to Palin4veep >>>>>>> go sarah ....
And Obama said there were 57 states in the US...hmmm? Never heard much about that one did we? So who is the idiot?
oh and PS... the only reason Ted, Don and Sarah are still around is because of you Alaska...you put up with it.
Taters, I am still LMAO over this post my buddy sent me. Your buddies are going off the deep end.Read Malieka's post...........

Sarah Palin is loved by The American Conservatives. The fact that the John McCain political group has seen fit to attack Sarah Palin, a person who actually improved McCain's standing in the race, only shows that the weak kneed Socialist segment of the Republican Party, that segment that adheres to John McCain, is not conservative like Sarah Palin is.
John McCain spent more time attacking Conservatives who were trying to HELP HIM WIN The White House than he spent actually attacking Barack Hussein Obama. John McCain's former supporters in the Media went after John McCain like a rag doll and John McCain NEVER forcefully countered the Media Attacks. Instead John McCain behaved like he was the perfect HIRED REPUBLICAN PARTY SPOILER; In other words, John McCain ran with a multitude of Republican Candidates in the Primary and as part of a Democrat Party ORCHESTRATED CAMPAIGN, like Rush Limbaughs Operation Chaos, where John McCain used the carefully crafted support of Democrat Party voters who crossed party lines to vote (and register as Republicans if necessary well in advance of the Primaries) for John McCain while the conservative Republican Base split its vote among a large number of independently competing conservative Republicans John got the Presidential Spot.... Not because of his popularity but because of the Splintering of the Conservative Republican vote. As a result the Democrat's Choice for Republican Presidential Candidate, a man that the Democrat Party rightfully believed would not strike vigorously against a Democrat Party Presidential "opponent", John McCain was selected as the Republican Party Presidential Candidate.
The campaign staff of John McCain thus also naturally, and as part of the Same Democrat Party orchestrated plan, contained "Advisers" who were supplying "Advice" to John McCain designed to assure a Democrat Party victory. To whatever extent that john McCain might have had a fleeting thought that he needed to attack the opponent, no doubt John McCain's "Advisers" counseled against such a "DIVISIVE COURSE OF ACTION".... This was the carefully orchestrated path to John McCain's LOSS.
I am sure everyone has again noticed that the Main Stream Media has resumed its accolades of John McCain, now that he has behaved like the LOSER that the Democrat Party machine expected him to be; The Democrat Party Machine simply obtained the assistance of tried and true Chicago Dirty Tricks Political Machine, Acorn and the extremely vigorous Cemetery vote.
Sarah, do not listen to the scum who are afraid of you. They fear you because America loves you. You will have Mr. HUSSEIN (B.O.) on the ropes on 2012.
Sarah in 2012, hah! Haven't any of you right-wingers realized that while she's insanely popular among the conservative whacko's the rest of the country regards her with a mix of amusement, fear (of her Christian agenda), or hatred. She's probably the biggest reason McCain lost, right up there with the economy.
She's a joke.
The Repubs can do better than her, let's face it she'd only get 30% of the vote
AND I'LL PLAY IT AGAIN SAM.....
Is that a whine I hear, Ms. Palin? You just can't make this stuff up! As usual, Ms. Palin is her own worst enemy and her words have come back to bite her right square in the arse! Below is a quote from Ms. Palin back in March of this year during an interview with Newsweek while she was in L.A for the magazine's Women & Leadership conference. Ms. Palin is commenting on concerns voiced by Hillary.....
"Fair or unfair—and I do think that it's a more concentrated criticism that Hillary gets on so many fronts; I think that's unfortunate. But fair or unfair, I think she does herself a disservice to even mention it, really. You have to plow through that and know what you're getting into. Wow, the hypocrisy of this woman and Republicans is endless!
The louder a pig squeals the more fearful the animal is; It is a dance of sorts; Much like the dance inherent in a hunt. You will skewer the Liberal scum Sarah! Get geared up for 2012!! America will back you with no Yosemite Sam running interference for the Democrat Party.
The only thing here that's sad and pathetic are the Palin haters that cling to their half truths and lies even after their victory. McCain was an old fool who got what he had coming. His legacy will be to have helped usher in a socialist administration. Palin and those like her, young and conservative, will soon turn the Republican party back to it's conservative roots. So just keep up the baseless, petty, attacks liberals, You out spent us almost two to one and we got 5 % less votes than you did. If I were you, Palin would upset me too.
Ahhhh and Ms. Palin, lipstick and all, is "a-squeal'n!"
I doubt America will back her in 2012 so perhaps she and Todd should continue with plans for Ak to separate from the United States. Maybe she can be the dictator of the new country of Alaska!
Ihave to agree with dobiman and the rest of the informed people on here. This Sara worship is sickening. Haveing lived in the part of the country she fired up. I can tell you they are the most bigoted racest, and ignorant people in the world. Beleive me if you think the KKK is dead, try living around these people. They hide behind religion but they sure don't practice what they preach.
Tourglide, I honestly believe "palin4veep" was an outside operative for the McCain/Palin campaign.

Well guys, this is it for me. Time to go vote for Sarah! It was nice getting to know you all. Thanks to the News-Miner for feeding me. I feel my job is done and I can now rest in peace.
For the last time: "GO SARAH!"
On Palin's doctor says she is in 'excellent health' "

I found the last two sentences to be especially creepy. Most especially his/her thanks to the newsminer for "feeding" him/her. That particular image produced images in my brain of a vampire feeding off the putrefying blood of a corpse.
Creepy.
Downright creepy.
Welcome to the internet age.
Thanks Snoopy they sound like my kind of people. Although Religion is for fools that need a crutch imho.
As for us seperating from the Socialist States of America maybe it is time. I am sick of CA and NY controlling the government.

Mr.Ed(A.B.) saw you on another thread, but they closed it before I could post...the Socialism thread. Truth is Truth. Sarah may have desires to run in 2012. but if the Republican Party gets back to it's roots, by then I do not think they will be that interested in her. She is much too radical, and the Party would not place it's money on a radical. What I am surprised with is that you act as if McCain was the reason the Republicans lost the election. And how quickly you distance yourself from him. As for America "loving" Sarah, speak for youself. I do not dislike her specifically, but I doubt her political accumen, and if even 10% of the information concerning her is correct, I have my doubts. At the least she needs many more years of training , perhaps as an ambassador to Mexico, perhaps someplace in Europe, to hone her skills. Sincerely Mr.North(T.S.)
NolaUrels -
I think your fishtank parable is hauntingly realistic. I'm one of those very fearful of the real potential of our governor. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - dictator. Fascist dictator. To me, and to others who seem to get the same kind of creepy vibe from that woman, from what I've read, that's the *real* potential of Sarah Palin.
I am SO happy she didn't get voted into the position "just one heartbeat" away from the presidency. We, the U.S., just got real lucky - this time around. But for sure, she'll be lurking around in the backwater shadows. Waiting for just the right moment for her dark star to gain ascendancy again on the national scene.
We haven't heard the last of one said Sarah Palin.
Shudder.
hadrian I do not really think true Alaskans give a rats tail what the US or the rest of the world think of us. Slink back into your hole in the lower 48 before you get eaten.
Pat
NYC says it all. That cesspool is a big part of the problem.
Pat
LadyNYC.. you are probably right. NoFan...well said.
"Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin called her critics cowards Friday for deriding her anonymously"
She's talking about all you guys! Cowards!
Go Sarah!
Whats the use, it be Friday and I need more beer.
Alaskans, even the liberal ones, rule. The lower 48 blows. Go Nanooks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think Sarah and Andrew Briseno would make a formidable team as representaives of the Republican Party. The rest of the world could only say, Bist meshugeh? A shtusken nisht in hartz.
Sarah: "Barack Obama is a militant radical terrorist who hates America and worships the Soviet Union!"
Sarah's handlers: "My God, this woman doesn't know Africa is a continent!"
Sarah: "WAAAAAAH the big bad media is picking on poor little old girly me!!"
What a disgrace to women in politics. That's what Sarah gets for using her looks and lies to jump head-first into a game of brains.
Need more beer? Careful roadtrip, what will those moral conservatives say Sunday morning?
What's this? Sarah can poke fun at others but when it's her turn to be made fun of, the folks are "cowardly"? What gives? Oh yeah, more double talk from the Valley.
By the way, that per diem from home had better stop soon. It would be a shame to have all the other state employees work from home then submit their per diem request. Oh wait, that's the legislative body.
Andrew Briseno, after reading the first few sentences of your posts tonight, I almost truly had hope that you had, indeed, gotten back on your meds.
But sorry to say, upon further reading, you seem as irrational as ever.
What a sell-out you are to your own people.
Barf. Puke.
And you *dare* count yourself among true Latinos? What have the *true conservatives* of this country done to ever benefit your people? Deport them back over the border, after they risked their very lives, to get here? After taking scum-of-the-earth paying jobs so that us fat-cat rich Americans can have fresh produce on our tables? Deport them back below the border so that they could starve once again? And you dare claim your Mexican heritage?
Traitor.
Get back on your meds, Briseno.
And roadtrip,
As to the liberals "half truths and lies" regarding Palin . . . ?
As they say, what comes around, goes around.
Lady Palin is *finally* getting a taste of her own medicine. Long past due, I'd say.
You all won, it's over, we Republicans suck. But even after your impressive victory, and Lord Obama's ascension, we still focus our attention on Palin. OK, I would rather talk about her anyway.
Talk about her all you want, roadtrip. You're wasting your breath, and our time.
Palin's yesterday's news.
Just deal with it, ok?
Roadie...you only suck if you want to. You are surely not one to let facts and reason get in your way.
I'm sorry but I have to post it one last time just because I know SNL and Tina Fey won't be doing it for us tomorrow night! Am I the only one who finds her comments today ironic? LMBO...
Tourgide/LadyNYC-
Re: palin4veep
Actually, I think it is more likely that your Palin fan knew he or she was unable to stand up to the criticism he or she knew they'd endure once Palin and Co. lost the election and, in a very cowardly fashion, stopped posting.
It would be nice to hear from p4v once again... just to know how he or she is doing.
PhilCollins, Tourgide, and LadyNYC ~
You might want to take a long look at palin4prez. I think you might find your long lost friend........
It's Friday.
The difference between a jet engine and our governor? The Jet engine stops whining when the flight is over.
Governor, If I took two months away from my current job to look for another job there would be He11 to pay, known as unemployment. Welcome to the He11 known as public opinion. After shopping your resume around, you still have a job! Pretty cool, huh?
When it comes to being small and mean-spirited be careful of what you accuse others.
Ok, now, look. We may not always like the outcomes of elections. But this is a democracy, with checks and balances, not a monarchy. We will be fine.
Our governor has no one to blame but herself for public opinion about her. When you step in something in the barn yard, people will make fun of YOU, not the barnyard! YOU were the one who stepped in it. People laugh and point. Watch where you step. The barn yard is no place for dilettantes.
It is not her fault the GOP lost! There were numerous issues: the stock market, a better prepared adversary, a broadcast media in love with the Dems and itself. But I doubt she helped the ticket. The recent GOP campaign was politics as it was practiced in the last century; and, evidently, by an increasingly irrelevant party. I know it appealed to a few conservatives, but it lacked broad appeal, notwithstanding the closeness of the vote. A narrow, inarticulate agenda is simply not the way to win the hearts and minds of the majority.
The GOP did amazingly well in the face of, most particularly, the broadcast media where journalism is a dead craft, where ratings and egos are all that matter. The Dems had a well-funded, articulate campaign while the GOP spent most of its time inciting the ultra right to misbehave, resorting to playground-level name calling and finger pointing. On the other hand, you cannot fault a party for planning and success, any more than you can fault its candidate for making something of himself, working hard, getting an excellent education, and pursuing a goal in a progressive and strategic manner (code for "not a dilettante").
No candidate is 100%. Most of us likely voted as we did because we "liked" our choice MORE than we liked the other guy; not because we were 100% absolutely totally in support of every single thing "our guy" stood for. I have generally voted conservative. This year I was about 2/3 more in favor of the Dem ticket than the GOP ticket. My "inner electorate" reflected the national electorate, for once.
Once, in farming country, a friend showed me how to drive an antique farm tractor. I have a picture of me on that tractor. When friends see it, I quickly explain I know how to DRIVE it, I do not know how to OPERATE it. There is a difference, known to anyone who has operated one at harvest time. (Hint, Knowing how to operate the tractor is better.) I noticed, though, when I shut the tractor down, it stops whining.
Traitor to your people... What a seriously Anti-American concept; What is "my people". I know who and what I am. I owe no allegiance to criminals who enter America illegally. Calling a criminal illegal alien an undocumented worker is sophistry designed to mask the slave owner mentality of those who purposefully de facto enslave illegal aliens and also necessarily STEAL WEALTH from their fellow citizens because they are too bloody CHEAP and CRIMINAL in and of themselves to hire legal resident aliens and Americans for a fair wage. The larger criminal are all of those people who hire illegal aliens. The illegal aliens are themselves treated like disposable tools to be abused by their slave owners, those who pretend beneficence and who actually exploit the illegal alien. A Traitor to people - the person who hires the illegal alien.
My people are Americans; Who are yours?
Get on meds... Curious that Liberals have a fixation on medicating themselves into a state that they think is acceptable so they project their fixation on narcotics upon others. Pretty poor and empty lives Liberals must lead.
Understand and abide by the rule of law or have anarchy. I choose the former.
What were you farming, cow manure?
I love the fact that the Liberals are obviously deathly afraid of what they obviously recognize and are posting in hordes to deny; That Sarah Palin had the largest personal draw on Conservatives and that for the first time since Ron Reagan Conservative Republicans are again starting to grow a "spine".
Sarah is a very real threat to the Liberal lies and the nirvana that is being claimed to be on the horizon by Mr. HUSSEIN (B.O.) . What is clear is the Mr. HUSSEIN (B.O.) will not be successful by 2012 and that will set the stage for Sarah Palin to run for the Office of President; An honest politician and a real woman; how threatening that is to Liberals; Gotta love it!
roadtrip you probably have never worked 12 hours a day six days a week, for weeks on end, in temperatures that never dropped below 100 degrees Fahrenheit. I have; for a long time I did it; I worked with wheat, carrots, lettuce, barley, watermelons, cantalopes and yes, MANURE. It was honest LEGAL LABOR. I am proud of the hard work that permitted me to better my situation so that I no longer have to work "en el campo". (in the field). There is no shame in honest legal work.
It is a shame that so many have apparently never learned that lesson.
Andrew ~ I heard something the other day that made me chuckle....light travels faster than sound; That is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak! Ms. Palin's draw on the conservatives lasted one hot minute, just long enough to hear her speak.
Had Ms. Palin truly loved her country as she has suggested she would have considered what was in the best interest of this country instead of what was in the best interest of Sarah. When asked by Mr. McCain to join his campaign she should have declined recognizing her limitations.
Actions speak louder then words. A concept that seems lost on our supposedly educated liberals. Sarah may not be the best public speaker like your halfrican friend but she gets things done. Let us see if he can as well.
Pat
realdeal ~ Palin was selected based on her breasts alone! She was used as nothing more than a pathetic campaign ploy by the McCain camp to gain the votes of women who supported Hillary. As Gloria Steinem so eloquently noted in an article in the L.A Times "Palin shares nothing but a chromosome with Clinton. Her down-home, divisive and deceptive speech did nothing to cosmeticize a Republican convention that has more than twice as many male delegates as female, a presidential candidate who is owned and operated by the right wing and a platform that opposes pretty much everything Clinton's candidacy stood for -- and that Barack Obama's still does." Had Ms. Palin recognized her own limitations and declined McCain's offer she could have spared herself and her family of this humiliation!
To read the entire article written by Gloria Steinem go to http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/comm...
Pat ~ Halfrican? Classy! Glad to see ugly is still alive and kicking.....
It seems to fit he is no black man or white man he is both. I despise pc speaking so that is the best and nicest thing I can think to say about the man that does not represent me.
Pat
I grew up on a farm. I could throw hay bales seven layers high on a flat bed. The cow manure thing was a metaphor for bu11 s#1t, as in AlaskaPhil's comment is bu11 s#1t, your post got in the way.
Palinfan, I've suffered through your comments, and the common denominator is, you are just criticizing Palin, nothing new or interesting.
All this trash about Palin, who ran for VP,,,,,,now we have a president to be who says about America, "the 57 states", why,,, he didn't even catch it because of his lack of knowledge.
dopieman, the ester hick, probably thinks there really are 57 states just because Obama said it....lol
Sorry for being confused, roadtrip.
Sarah Palin will still do far better than any Liberal I have seen. Great going Sarah; All the Libs can do is lie to attempt to unfairly denigrate you.
Pat ~ Spoken like a true Palin supporter! Nothing like inciting hate and fear! I hadn't realized common consideration and respect for your fellow man was considered "pc". Interesting point of view........
nofanofpalin, go ahead don't be a fan, but Palin was not selected on "her breasts alone". Who are you to go after anyone stating "ugly is still alive and kicking" after a SEXIST statement like that? Only you are right everyone else is wrong, only you can name call, only you are rightous.
Folks after the very liberal DC crowd has made a complete mess of this beautiful country people are going to be begging for consertavism. Please lower our taxes, please do away with the fairness docterine, please bring back capitolism, and dear Lord get rid of Nancy Pelosi. Please give us back our free speech, please let me read the Constitution, please let me bear arms and send my child to the school I choose. Consertavism will rise again, and it will save this country.
realdeal ~ Poor assumption! I have never been a supporter of Hillary but the facts are the same. Palin was used by the McCain camp and she was too foolish to recognize it!
i agree amgray19, id critcize her to her face as well. itd be "gotcha journalism". lol. i still think shes trash.
akrose ~ That wasn't a sexist statement, it was a fact. I don't recall calling anyone names in any of my posts, especially something as vile as that spewed forth by Pat.
Consertavism? Don't know what that is.....
We do agree on one thing though, Nancy Pelosi needs to go!
Andrew ~ Denigrate indeed! Like being called a Muslim, a non-citizen, a socialist, a terrorist, unpatriotic, racist, an elitist? A "halfrican"? Seems Ms. Palin and her supporters can't take what she dishes......
Now it's just getting stupid. Palin was picked because of her legs, duh.
JOPARKS ~ No doubt he made it all the way through Columbia and Harvard Law School believing there are 57 states! Get real....
realdeal ~ "you can only speak of what you do not knowwwwwwww"
Speak to what you DO NOT know????? Don't know what that means.....
Before.... Care to elaborate?
realdeal ~ how about elaborating clearly? Drop the code, speak loud and proud! Go away before.......what?
realdeal ~ smart choice! It was beginning to sound an awful lot like a threat.
conservatism, key error, oops. Conservatism will rise again, it will save this country;)
“That’s cruel, It’s mean-spirited. It’s immature. It’s unprofessional and those guys are jerks if they came away with it, taking things out of context and then tried to spread something on national news. It’s not fair, and it’s not right.”
sooooo, sarah.....remind me about the meat of your campaign speeches
Well the plug has been pulled on Saras spot light so now its time to remove the make up go home put on her bunny boots go kill a moose play with the kids wait for the grand baby soon will be a grandma
Yep, we got ourselves a genius. He actually meant there were 59 states because he had not visited Alaska or Hawaii yet. And you are all worried about the slip of one word?? Oh my! The way he made it through ivy league schools could be as shady as the rest of his history?? Are his diplomas sealed too?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpGH02DtI...
All the lies and bad mouthing Palin did on the trail is now coming back to byte her in the bumm. Bad juju Sarah, instant karma is going to get you!!!!
she will not be re-elected gov. she was merely a statement to throw at the status quo.
So Palin found out that she's not smart enough to run with the big dogs. No surprise there. She was unfortunately arrogant enough to think that she could bluff her way through and no one would notice. It didn't work so now the people that pointed out her shortcomings are "jerks". It's the sad, tired story of someone who loves to dish it out, but can't take it. She was in no way qualified for the VP position, and she made that abundantly clear every time she opened her mouth. Did you catch her latest interview? The accent and all the cutsie phrases were completely gone! America has been spared 4 more years of stupidity.
All you Democrats posting!
CNN 4:40 PM Friday reports that Rasmussen pole shows Sarah is the top pick among Republicans.
By some 60+%
So, stop blowing in each other's ear! The election is over!
Your time is better spent reading what Obama has been said in the last two days!
So far he has double crossed you and he plans to a second term.
Last but not least, pay off your debts! You may not have a job, over time, or a 401k! As the economy continues to contract.
GM and Ford are about go bankrupt! It looks like their debt payments exceed their income!
They might be able to save themselves with an across the board wage cuts from top to bottom.
GO Sarah GO!!!!
Andrew Johnson was VP in the administration of Abraham Lincoln. ANDREW became president when Lincoln was assassinated. ANDREW was disrespected, noted for public drunkenness and poor manners. ANDREW was also accused of being a racist. ANDREW faced Impeachment in 1868 over his handling of an appointment regarding the Secretary of War. ANDREW escaped impeachment by one vote in the US Senate. Are all people with "ANDREW" in their name like ANDREW Johnson because of their NAME? Are all ANDREWS, drunk, disrespectful, racist, and candidates for impeachment? Of course not.
People! Can we drop the whole "middle name" smoke screen. If you want to make a salient point, make it. If the best you can come up with is a sophomoric and obsessive use of a man's middle name, you are engaging in the same kind of silly name calling and finger pointing which was a trade mark of our governor's run for VP.
Philcollins, and the rest of the folks, who are wondering where palin4veep is, try this palin4pres, this one logged in on Nov, 4th.
So I guess we didn't lose "4veep", after all.
Now I can get a good nights sleep, knowing she/he is back...
hahaha, wow!!! I thought I was being "original", coming on this site after the elections, thinking I could "ride a ground-swell" of seeing Sarah make her move for 2012!!
AND, I find Obama supporters have jumped on here in droves?? Why?? They must be concerned that she WILL run in 2012???
The election is over, and I, as a conservative fan of someone running for President or V President who is not from the Beltway, have accepted Obamas win, and wish him well. I cannot understand what I assume is a liberal point of view, as to spreading the wealth to those who do not work, etc, but am VERY open minded to see if this does work, if tried! I come from a very welfare oriented state, and not even talking money, we have ruined 2 generations at least, of very able people who make a career of collecting welfare, etc. So sad, and maybe the conservative values of contributing to society and accepting responsibility for ones own actions ARE a thing of the past?? Hope Obamas 4 years prove my old fashioned thinking wrong??..lol
Nofanofpalin, you amaze me. You appear to have a very deep dislike of Palin?? I side with you on some of your posts, and then you "let me down"...lol..in the next!!
We all have our opinions, but I never consider mine set in stone, as being gospel, or the way everyone should think, or be!! You do not seem very flexable, in the least. I have always been open to discussions with others with a different point of view, and I usually learn something when I do this. I believe firmly in MY views, but I don't belittle someone with another viewpoint..
My views of this election, which I followed with interest, from Hillary & Obama, right through to the end, is sadly that I feel most major networks, and newspapers have been WAY to one-sided. We still have not a clue as to Obamas plans, or much about him. Palin was crucified for every little thing, and Obama and Biden had almost a free ride!! (the 57 states, the 3 letter word JOBS???...lol)
Also I see alot of postings about "un-educated" people posting!! lol, what a crock. I may have felt that way when younger, but have learned that some of the "hillbillies", "trailer trash", "beer drinking gun toting beaver trapping rednecks" may not write in perfect "prose"...lol...but are smarter than most "educated fools" when it comes to life lessons!! I have learned alot from them once I realized they were educated in the school of hard knocks!! Some of my best friends are just such people!!
Relax, and see what the future brings!! We have a new president, and I say about time we elected a man (or woman---go Condie Rice...lol) of African American heritage. Just wish they had been a conservative so I could have supported them!!...lol
AWWW!- poor princess Palin can dish it out, but, she can't take it.....
Can anybody say: SORE LOSER?
(She doesn't even appreciate the luxury vacation her family got, paid for by the tax-payers that she "governs", all her worshipers keep saying Obama is going to "rip us all off", or, that he is a terrorist, ad nauseum. Yet, it's ok for "Sarah" to use our tax-money for her vacations?)
Well said, Phil.
A former insider on the Obama campaign stated "Sarah Palin is a threat to the Democrats and we will stop at nothing to smear her so she doesn't derail the Obama express."
I believe none of what the media has written or said about her. Yes she made a few gaffs with interviews. However, these interviews were edited and portions removed to make her statements seem out there.
I wouldn't worry about Sarah anymore. It seems Obama, Reid and Pelosi have already started backtracking on all the promises they made during the campaign. Might take 2 terms to get everything we promised fixed. Obama slammed Nancy Reagan in his first news conference. The list of careless remarks and smears will grow longer and longer after the inauguration. I, for one, will never give him a free pass and will watch closely for every mistake and point it out.
“I never asked for anything more than a Diet Dr. Pepper once in a while,”-
-sure, Dr.Pepper.....and a few luxury vacations for her family (where they were not even invited) along with getting paid to sleep at home, Republican hypocrisy seems to have no bounds, or accountability.
BigDan ~ Of course you will watching and complaining! But may I suggest you take some time to review prior speeches made by President Elect Obama before making false assumptions. President Elect Obama has said a number of times during his campaign (even as late as his acceptance speech)that he may not be able to accomplish everything this year or even this term, but he will (and I am paraphrasing) always be honest with where things are and the challenges facing us.
I don't think anyone can argue that our President Elect is facing an uphill battle. He has much to do here and abroad to repair what has been so badly damaged. But at least President Elect Obama recognizes that damage, quite unlike your Ms. Palin and Mr. McCain!
CHANGE - the Obama mantra. Does appointing half of the Clinton administration constitute "CHANGE"? Maybe it depends on what the meaning of "change" is! Or does he have to find experienced people to make up for his lack?? Hold on tight!!
AlaskaPhil 11/7/2008, 9:55 p.m. Suggest removal
"The difference between a jet engine and our governor? The Jet engine stops whining when the flight is over."
That started me to laugh with a fresh hot mouthful of coffee just going in, and I could not hold it. It took several minutes to clean off the waterproof keyboad, screen, as well as the papers'n whatnot laying around here. It just sounds so much like our Sarah, who just wants to be our gov now and let by gones be by gones.
But here's one of the things that gets me about here is after all she's said and done in the last two months how much help is she going to get having a gasline built? Did she just shoot all of us in the foot?
sshalaska ~ Half of the Clinton administration? He has only appointed Rahm Emanuel as his Chief of Staff. One filled seat out of 15 hardly constitutes half! And yes, it is indeed change; change from the Bush and McCain\Palin agenda.
What must the rest of the world think of Alaskans?
We re-elect a covicted felon to the senate.
Our airhead, bimbo, govenor who preaches abstanance, parades her un-wed pregnant daughter across the politicle stages of the country.
nofanofpalin...Rahm Emmanuel is only the beginning. How about John Podesta, Carol Browner, Federico Pena, Bill Daley, Larry Summers, Susan Rice, Michael Froman, Stephanie Cutter, Christopher Edley, Christine Varney...These are some of his considerations and some are presently members of Obama's transition committee. It has been "leaked". Do some research. Yep, sounds like "change" to me! This is only beginning of the disappointment supporters will see. Obama lies like any other politician.
Wow! I mean WOW!
Bashing Presidential Canidates and running mates has been going on for so long. I mean just about every election. There will never be a end. Nobody will ever be Happy and, money will always be spent. Alot of people not even proud that she stepped up to the plate and said she would do it. If it was someone else, people would complain and argue over that. The money that was spent does not even compare to the money the GOV throws away every minute of the day... Just look at the National Debt Clock, Iraq Debt Clock. I think the biggest thing that everyone should be down right thining about is, what is this Obama guy got stirring in his mind? Who is this Obama? How can he promiss all these people all these things and live up to his word? Do the people who elected this man really know anything about the GOV and how it works and, how it can work for them? What if his Golden plan does not come to reality? How much money will he have spent him self? I'm sure it will be on the more heavier side of clothes.
sshalaska ~ Ahhh, yes all "leaks" are facts! Just like the facts in this article leaked by McCain's team about Ms. Palin?
Chuck Hagel (R) Nebraska, Richard Lugar ~ leader of the Republicans on the Senate foreign relations committee, Tony Knowles.... These have all been "leaked" as well. Why don't we wait until our President Elect has made an announcement regarding his choices before making poor assumptions and unwarranted criticisms?
Wow is RIGHT! Holy cow.
I think no matter how one feels about Sarah Palin (I didn't vote for her, she doesn't represent my politics, but I certainly don't HATE HER with every fiber of my being or anything) one should be concerned about claims made by unnamed sources. I think it's cowardly.
Anyway, there are plenty of verifiable stories, interviews, etc. to look at to determine how one feels about Sarah's intellect/political skills/etc.
I do think that releasing that information "anonymously" is suspect. I found it interesting when the Fox News reporter said he had learned of this information before the election but it was off the record until after the election. So what did that mean? That the McCain camp knew they would lose? Or that we would have learned this information after McCain/Palin were in office? The whole thing is weird.
sshalaska,
Tell us all, we are waiting with bated breath.
WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU TOTALLY HAPPY?
It seems like, NOTHING WOULD...
As one who didn't share enthusiasm for this adventure at the onset, I think Alaskans will benefit from this brief diversion from the State's business.
Governor Palin has been to the belly of the beast, and discovered it stinks in there.
Now its time to get back to work.
some people here are just jealous of beautiful, and smart Governor Palin. The beauty is not only skin deep too! They are so miserable they want to make others feel the same.
lol, keep doing right, and you know the majority of Alaska is backing you, Governor
Christina ~ I agree, unnamed sources are indeed suspect, even in the case of this story. And I, like you, certainly do not "hate" Ms. Palin but I certainly don't respect her either. Not because her views morally and politically are not in line with mine, that would be petty. Not because I feel her views about women's issues are archaic, dangerous and 15th century solutions for 21 century problems. I have no respect for Ms. Palin because she didn't recognize her own limitations when approached by the McCain camp and in turn graciously decline his offer to the VP position. Ms. Palin has shown she is knowledgeable enough to govern on a state level but that is a far cry from governing on a national level. I do not suggest Ms. Palin is an ignorant woman, but rather that she is ignorant of the many facets of national politics. If Ms. Palin comes out in 4 or 8 years better prepared for the national arena I would likely still oppose her politics, but I would not oppose her presence.
The entire story is distasteful. I hope the irony that it's Fox News that broke the story and kept the story in the news cycle for over 36 hours isn't lost on anyone.
Christina ~ I doubt the irony of Fox news breaking the story or the irony of Ms. Palin bashing Senator Clinton for "whining" over criticism (see earlier posts for full story) was lost on anyone, but I doubt it will be acknowledged by Ms. Palin or her supporters either!
marlomille, why ever would you target me with that question? There are a whole lot of more angry people on this post. I am not angry, just irritated with people focusing on one side of an issue. What would make me happy is if the media were fair. For instance if you are going to slam one candidate for spending an outrageous amount of money on clothes, then give figures for the others to make it a fair comparison. If you are going to focus on the stupid things Palin said, then lets hear about the stupid things Obama said. I think people are jaded with the promises of politicians and cant see through the lies. It is the sad state of affairs with government these days. If you really think Obama is going to change things and "help" you personally, I hope you find satisfaction. I dont think either Mccain or Obama could live up to the promises they were forced to spew in order to try to win the vote. As the election went on, the promises got bigger and bigger and Americans believe it. It is sad! All we can do is wait and see.
sshalaska ~ Didn't your momma ever tell you life isn't fair? (lol)
The media did report the policies of the other candidates regarding wardrobes, even that of Senator Clinton and she was out of the running by then. They all furnished their own wardrobes based on their individual (personal) incomes, of course with the sole exception of Ms. Palin and her family.
The media did report "gaffes" by other candidates. President Elect Obama's remark about visiting “57 states.” VP Elect Bidens remarks about... well, we all know Mr. Biden is one big gaffe. (lol) But the fact remains Ms. Palin had far more than the rest, again not because she is an ignorant woman, but rather ignorant of the issues and global politics. It is a shame she was blinded by her own self importance and did not recognize that she was being used as nothing more than a political ploy to gain the votes of Hillary supporters.
I believe voters did a great job looking past the lies. Lies like the ones Ms. Palin's rallies were based on. Muslim, a non-citizen, a socialist, a terrorist, unpatriotic, racist, an elitist. One rabid supporter of Ms. Palin's on here even went as far as calling President Elect Obama a "halfrican"!
Indeed, all we can do is wait and see.......
again, wow!!!...lol. As with my local newspaper, alot of people feel important writing on these blogs, and keep repeating the same thing over & over. I may be one?..lol That is fine, I guess, and allows one to "vent"??
Something is fishy, when you start checking a number of blogs, or comment areas of newspapers, etc!! (very easily done in this internet age...)
I am not the sharpest tack in the box, but something sounds to "professional" in alot of the comments on these blogs. Very similar themes, in the "guise" of pushing Obama, and the liberals.
I guess I will admit, I am a suspicious old fool, but something is going on here, and it sure turns me against the liberals.(there goes my trying to be open minded???...lol) May be wrong, but any "political machine" that can beat the Clintons at their own game, will stoop to anything. Gotta admit, Clintons win elections, and are good at it, although some wonder just how above board they are. (I actually like Hillary, just not their machine)
Are their any posters actually paid to come on these sites and "prepare for 2012"????. My God, amazing!!!! Gotta admit, super organization!!!!
sshalaska,
This is nothing more than a comment section. What people read or listen to is there way of gathering info. then they make up there minds, and express there feelings.
It is there right to do so. But to get upset because someone, believes in some thing you don't believe in,is wrong.
I must agree with nofanofpalin above, FAIR IS SOMETHING YOU GO TO IN AUG.
"They're mean. They're jerks." It looks like Caribou Barbie is having a temper tantrum. She says the nation should be focusing on more important issues, yet she can't resist whining and keeping the focus on herself. She's not doing herself any favors doing this. Calling someone a jerk is not very professional either Sarah. If all of these stories are false, how come John McCain never came forward to set the record straight?
Jackoamerica,
Not everything is a conspiracy. Liberals, as you call them, do not get represented at any level of government in Alaska, so maybe they just want to make their feelings and ideas heard. And just because someone can express themselves in an intelligent manner, does not make them a part of some political machine. Maybe we're all just a bunch of intellectual elitists as you conservatives like to call us. It's too bad than intelligence has become a character flaw, and that so many of you are threatened by it. Maybe that's why "intellectuals" like George Bush and Sarah Palin are what the GOP has to offer.
Khusky ~ Bravo! I too am wondering when an education and a desire for knowledge became a bad thing. When the word "intellectual" became a dirty word and being one was looked down on. When being an "intellectual" and having "common sense" became mutually exclusive. When Republicans traded intelligence for campy winks, "ya betcha's" and "to shore up our...under the umbrella of job creation... ummm, I'll get back with ya Katie."
As far as "dirty" words and labels are concerned, I much prefer "intellectual" to "Republican".
Where is John to correct the record on the ex-staffers speaking out about the Wasilla hillbilly?? As long as she keeps talking the media will still talk about her. Perhaps she should...well...shuttup.
The sad part of all of this is that if Stevens wins and gets expelled from the Sentate she will run for his seat in the special election and lots of people in this state are stupid enough to vote for her.
I much prefer name calling to intellectual conversation. So how many times can you call the governor of Alaska stupid and still be considered an intellectual? Is it intellectual to focus your energies on tearing someone down who's ideas you do not agree with? Tell me more about your intellectualism.
The most liberal senator in congress just won the presidency running as a conservative. If he rules as a conservative, fine, but if he returns to his ultra liberal roots you liberal fools are going to have a hard time justifying all the broken campaign promises, but you will try.
Ahhh, roadtrip! How the heck are ya? Was wondering when you would "rear your head" lol
Hangovers wear off. Hows your air of superiority doing? Still single issue?
Indeed they do ; )
Yes, still enjoying the "air" up here, thanks!
lol, at least you guys remain civil....? I like that.. Thanks.
No fan, & akhusky.. I assume you AK are from there? Maybe even fanof? Jeez, I didn't realize there was no liberal representation up there? (I am asking a serious question...lol) In my state, we are FLOODED, and it might have sounded good when there was none, but to a conservative, it ain't fun. And I don't mean change, just everything liberal has taken over, and no way to stop them. I don't mean to bash anyone here, but for example, government give-away programs have gotten SO big, that when any referendum or vote comes up to change them, we can't change a thing. So many recieving government hand-outs, and so many working for the state running these programs, they will not vote them down for fear of losing their jobs. People move here from other states for the bennies. The worker and taxpayer is the minorority!!!...lol
Frustrating. I don't mind helping those in "need", but sure hard to help those in "want"!! BIG difference.
Government can-NOT be all things for all people!!
Roadtrip, nice posts. I like em, opps, can't show my real self, gotta come across as an intellectual??...lol, so; ahem, I like your posts sir or maam!!
Intellectual is NOT a dirty word, as long as it doesn't go to ones head. As I mentioned in a previous post, get over the "hillbilly thing", and your (NOT meaning anyone in particular, just intellectuals) thinking you know it all from college, etc. Some of the smartest people I have met in this ole lifetime have never been beyond high school, and a couple quit that halfway through..On the other hand, I have seen some great kids fresh out of college, start a job with the familiar "know it all" air about them. Didn't take long for em to realize they better listen to some of the ole hillbillies who had learned from the ground up!!..lol Never judge on looks , which is what the RNC thought about Palin, I would bet, so they instructed her to look more "name branded" up...lol...
You folks from Alaska must know your governor better than us here in the lower 48, but don't be to quick to feed her to the wolfs!! Most of us here liked her, and what she stood for, but the RNC has gone so far to the left of center trying to be a democrat to get more voters, that a lot of republicans are fed up with the RNC, and vote Dem regardless...lol
jackoamerica ~ No reason for me to get hostile with anyone posting here, and as a matter of fact, I get quite a kick out of roadkills posts and respect his right to be wrong. (Wink, wink, mug, mug... LOL)
Seriously though, if you look at my profile or read some of my other posts you will find that I am not a true "liberal" and even have some rather conservative ideas. In fact, I am a registered Independent who before this year had always voted for a Republican candidate(and was a supporter of a fellow Republican candidate that dropped out of the race early before supporting and voting for President Elect Obama.) I, like you, am no fan of paying taxes to support those who can work but choose not to. I agree there are many government programs that need to either be reformed or shut down all together, so I don't think it's necessary to label folks we don't know outside of their comments posted here.
I think to those who believe because one voted a certain way they must be an "intellectual" (therefore forgetting from whom and where they came and must certainly have allowed their education or accomplishments "go to their head") are leaping to ill conceived conclusions and are missing an opportunity to see another point of view. Often times a point of view that isn't as different from yours as you might have thought. As I stated before, I think it is a dangerous undertaking to assume to know ones level of education or knowledge simply by what has been posted here.
I enjoy reading your thoughts and ideas jackoamerica....keep posting!
I don't think it was FOX that broke all the news about the mud slinging from the McCain campain.
NEWSWEEK did a lot of it there is a 7 part story, "Secrets of the 2008 Campain"
It is some pretty good reading!
She was 100% correct in her statements about all the crap the media spouted!
Wow, this thing lasted longer than I thought it would. As I said to Andrew Briseno. ( Mr. Ed(A.B.) That Sarah should go overseas or to Mexico and work as Ambassador, or a Staffer, and learn some life lessons. Or Mr.Briseno could have her work for him in his law office, in California, either way she needs more experience, and training to go on with her political ambitions. Then in "six or seven years" as John Wayne said in "She wore a Yellow Ribbon"; maybe she would have a chance. To.. Akhusky, NoFan, Alaska Phil; etc.. Keep Feeling Frosty..
TO ALL YOU PALIN LOVERS.....
by her own definition of coward, idiots and unfair then she fall into that catagory....
the reason i say this is because on the stump she would paraphrase either Biden or Abama and try to dedame them for a phrase.... the latest and most obvious was that 'BANKRUPTING CLEAN COAL MANUFACTURERS'.... SHE USED THOSE 4 WORDS AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN TO TRY TO MAKE OBAMA LOOK BAD.... besides those 4 words there was an entire conversation with the san francisco chronicle.... and yes he said thos 4 words but not in the light that palin presented....
so alaska given that and there are many others.... especially her rhetoric slander on his race through certain kind of words like 'he is not like us' phrases only makes palin alot like her own words 'coward, jerks and unfair'.....
then there is this 'diet pepper' comment.... she is absolutely lying through her teeth...... she was given permission to buy certain types of clothing which she allowed to explode into a 150,00$ extravaganza..... the RNC never.. and i say never gave her permission to buy all those clothes for her and her family..... and she has the audacity to try to blame the RNC....
i guess she is either going to try to be the first independant female candidate for president or hope the democrates will take her in for 2016...... but she is a loser with the domestic republican party..... and i believe if alaska finally listens to the native population they will see she is not very liked up there either.....
i'm not a coward.... so tell her i said this about her..... the woman is not playing with a full deck..... and she does not know how to make moose chili.... her parents do.... all she can do is fill up water bottles..... as shown in one of her pictures.... but to say she cooked that moose chile is a lie..... just like a whole lot of other issues surrounding her..... one right after another...
my mom once told me as a youngin.... when you tell a lie, it takes a bigger onE to cover it up..... well soon we'll be getting some pretty good size ones from her.......
lastly her republican critics were debate preppers.... she knows exactly who they are.... and they stated correctly her knowledge of Africa.... and the trade agreements between usa, canada and mexico... oh she knows it now but in the prep session she was taught.... to the shagrin of the people prepping her..... but she says she knew it all along.... that is false.... just because she can spew it now does not give her credience for before the prep session.... and the prep session people told on her.... and she calls them jerks and cowards.... how bad is that..... the prep people were honerable to the RNC by not bringing it out before the election.... but after the election..... in truth palin had many people in the campaign scratching their heads at her total lack of knowledge....
ONE LAST COMMENT...
boy could she rile those crowds up to blurt out 'kill obama'....
she was good at that...... she has a knack for negativity.....
she lately called on God to open some doors for her..... she better becareful..... God should not be used to promote onesself politically..... karma will get her in the end...
