Will Ice Classic crown more than one winner?
Published Wednesday, May 14, 2008
The end is in sight as the second check of Nenana Ice Classic tickets nears completion.
“So far, there is just one winner,” said Amanda Wubbold, Ice Classic administrative assistant, Tuesday afternoon.
“We’re checking every individual ticket that was typed into our database to make sure there weren’t any errors.”
Wubbold expects the detailed double- check to be completed by this afternoon, more than a week after the tripod broke free from its icebound mooring and tripped the official clock at 10:53 p.m. Alaska Standard Time on May 6.
If no other tickets with the lucky time and date are recovered, the sole winner — an unnamed Anchorage woman — will take home a hefty jackpot of $303,895.
The Nenana Ice Classic, which began in 1917, is in its 92nd year. Sales were up this year from last by $623. In 2007 the $303,272 jackpot was split between 22 ticket holders.

I was in a pool last year that won. I could not believe that we shared with 21 other winning tickets!! Now here comes this lady, a single winner!! Congrats to her, and interesting guess, 1053 at night!! That is why it is a single winner, not many guess late at night.
