SOLDOTNA -- The city manager of Soldotna is looking for input on whether the city should buy a golf course.

The city council has agonized for months over whether to purchase Birch Ridge Golf Course.

The city council on Thursday night is expected to be presented with a resolution introduced by Tom Boedeker. The city manager wants to know whether to seek grants as possible funding sources for buying the course.

Pat and Myrna Cowan have told the city they plan to retire and sell their golf course in the next two years. They say they would like to know by July if the city wants to buy it.

If not, they will seek a buyer from the private sector - one that wants to maintain the property as a golf course.
