The Fairbanks Grizzlies are offering a game-day voucher for their fans ages 12 and younger for the Intense Football League game against the defending champion Louisiana Swashbucklers at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at the Carlson Center.
The voucher is only redeemable at the arena and the seats are provided upon availability in the upper level.
The voucher can be downloaded online at the Grizzlies Web site: (http://www.fairbanksgrizzlies.com/images/FairbanksGrizzlies-youth-voucher_May17th.gif).
The Swashbucklers lead the league at 7-0 after a 55-49 win over the Alaska Wild at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage on Sunday.
The Grizzlies (1-7) are coming off a bye week and are tied for eighth place in the nine-team league following a 52-37 loss to the San Angelo (Texas) Stampede-Express on May 3 at the Carlson Center.
BMX delay
The Far North BMX racing season suffered a setback due to poor conditions at the track on 19th Avenue and Kiana Street.
The season is set to start next Monday, which is a practice night, with races tentatively set to start on Wednesday, May 19.
Races are scheduled for every Wednesday night through Aug. 20 and there are four Saturday events on the schedule — June 7, June 28, July 26 and Aug. 23.
Registration for the Wednesday night races is from 5:45-6:45 p.m. and racing starts at 7. Registration for Saturday events is from 10:45-11:45 a.m. and racing starts at noon.
The facility also is open for practice from 6-8 p.m. every Monday. All participants must have a BMX-style bike, a full-face helmet, long sleeve shirt and long pants.
You can reach the track from the Mitchell Expressway, turn north onto Peger Road, left onto 19th Avenue, go two blocks and the track is on the right.
