KODIAK -- Stewart McDonald has been selected as the new superintendent of the Kodiak Island Borough School District.

McDonald is being promoted form his current position of assistant superintendent.

He replaces Larry LeDoux, who is leaving to accept the position of Education Commissioner in Gov. Sarah Palin's cabinet.

The 44-year-old McDonald and the school board are still working out the terms and conditions of an agreement, which could be done next week.
