Coast Guard escorts disabled cruise ship to Auke Bay

ANCHORAGE -- The Coast Guard has escorted a disabled cruise ship to Juneau's Auke Bay.
The Coast Guard cutter Liberty accompanied the 143-foot Spirit of Columbia, which arrived in Juneau on its own power around 5 p.m. Sunday.
The cruise ship lost power to both generators Saturday night with 89 people on board. Coast Guard officials say the cruise ship, operated by Cruise West of Seattle, also was operating on one of two propeller engines when it ran into trouble near Warm Springs Bay about 80 miles south of Juneau.
The ship's crew repaired the generators, but the vessel still is operating on just one propeller.
There are no reported injuries on board the Spirit of Columbia.
