KENAI — The city of Kenai may pay its workers an extra $500 from savings on health insurance.

The City Council is slated to consider the resolution Wednesday evening.

The savings would go to the city’s 93 employees.

City Manager Rick Koch says that last year the medical care deductible rose from $200 to $1,000.

The $800 per-employee difference was self-insured by the city and placed into an account.

Koch says that enough remains in the account for the city to consider splitting the money with its employees.
