SITKA — An 18-year-old Sitka man has been charged with four counts of murder following the stabbing deaths of four people.
A judge on Wednesday ordered Jason Abbott held on $1 million bail during a preliminary hearing.
He’s accused of stabbing four people to death at a home on Tuesday. He also faces another count of attempted murder for injuring a fifth person, who is hospitalized in serious but stable condition.
The names of the victims have not been released.
Police Chief Sheldon Schmitt says all five people were stabbed multiple times, with wounds on their backs, fronts and with defensive wounds.
Police said they had to use a stun gun to subdue Abbott when they arrived at the house. Court papers says Abbott was holding a dagger to his own throat when officers used the stun gun.

Kudos to the officers I guess, but why waste electricity when gun powder is cheaper.
Now we can support this kid for the next 60-70 years in prison and pay for his college degree.
As a distant relative of this family I would like to remind you all this is not an incident where it’s appropriate to make jokes and be insensitive to the remaining family members who’ve had their entire world shattered. J & J.W my heart goes out to you both and your children. You are in my prayers and thoughts, all my love Maryjane W.
