DUI
• Alexander P. Seeman, 34, of Fairbanks was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and felony drugs misconduct after he was arrested Friday.
Police stopped Seeman for several traffic violations, including failing to change lanes when passing a patrol car on a traffic stop on the Steese Highway. Based on his behavior and appearance, police suspected Seeman was under the influence of drugs.
A search of his car revealed that Seeman, who was on probation for a previous drug charge, was in possession of cocaine. Police found a knife with a white powder on it and a contact lens case that had several rocks of cocaine in it.
Seeman admitted to using cocaine an hour before driving and said it may have affected his driving, according to a criminal complaint.
• University of Alaska Fairbanks police arrested a man and a woman for drunken driving after responding to a report of a vehicle in a ditch on Saturday at 19th Avenue and University Avenue.
Tasha Lynn George, 27, of Stevens Village and Gordon Ray Arkell, 29, of Fairbanks both were charged with DUI when an officer responded to the scene at 2:21 a.m.
George, who also was charged with not having a valid license, told police she was driving when the car went into the ditch. Her breath-alcohol content was measured at 0.173 percent, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.
Arkell’s role in the crash was not detailed in the criminal complaint but his breath-alcohol content was measured at 0.294 percent.
• Travis Lee Fugate, 27, of Fairbanks was charged with drunken driving after being arrested by troopers Saturday.
Troopers stopped Fugate for speeding at 1:28 a.m. on Badger Road and detected signs that he was intoxicated. Fugate failed field sobriety tests and his breath-alcohol content was measured at 0.166 percent, according to a criminal complaint.
• Leonardo Rodriguez, 34, of North Pole was charged with DUI following a traffic stop by troopers at 3:56 a.m. on Saturday.
Rodriguez was stopped on Airport Way for changing lanes without signaling, weaving and driving at inconsistent speeds. Troopers detected the odor of alcohol on Rodriguez when they contacted him and he admitted to drinking two to three beers a half-hour before being stopped. He also failed field sobriety tests.
Rodriguez’ breath-alcohol content was measured at 0.130 percent.
• A Fairbanks man driving a four-wheeler was arrested for drunken driving on Sunday.
Jeffrey Wayne Holmes, 25, was contacted by University of Alaska Fairbanks police at the University Fire Station on University Avenue a little after 2 a.m. when he came to retrieve a Polaris four-wheeler that police had seen two subjects run away from, according to a criminal complaint filed in court.
Holmes’ breath-alcohol content was measured at 0.088 percent.
• Debra A. Thorn, 47, of Delta Junction was charged with drunken driving and refusal to submit to a chemical breath test on Sunday after troopers stopped her at 2:22 a.m. on Geist Road for driving with only her parking lights on, speeding and making a wide turn.
According to a criminal complaint, Thorn said she wouldn’t be driving if her son was in the car and she knew she had been drinking too much to be driving.
• Stacey Nicole Snyder, 30, of Fairbanks was charged with DUI after causing an accident at the intersection of Airport Way and University Avenue at 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
According to a criminal complaint, Snyder is accused of making an improper turn onto University Avenue. Police investigating the crash detected a strong odor of alcohol on Snyder, who admitted to having five drinks at two bars prior to driving. She also failed field sobriety tests.
Her breath-alcohol content was measured at 0.197 percent.
• A North Pole woman driving a vehicle that was reported as a possible drunken driver earlier in the evening was arrested on drunken driving charges at 2:10 a.m. Sunday.
Brandie C. Weaver, 25, was arrested after police received a report of a possible domestic assault at the Gold Rush Saloon. She left the bar in a vehicle that had been reported as being driven by a possible drunken driver earlier in the night. Fairbanks police located the vehicle, which Weaver was driving, on Peger Road. Weaver displayed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests.
Her breath-alcohol was measured at 0.094 percent.
Drugs
• A Fairbanks man with a history of cocaine possession was arrested on the same charge Friday after Fairbanks police received a call from an apartment on 27th Avenue.
Ivan J. Snowden, 25, was arrested by police around 3:20 a.m. after they entered the apartment and found a small amount of cocaine on a shelf and a small amount of marijuana on a table top.
The police have had several contacts with Snowden, who has been arrested for cocaine possession previously.
Police also found a large amount of cash on Snowden that is suspected of being drug money, according to a criminal complaint filed in the case.
Assault
• A Fairbanks man was charged with felony assault for allegedly hitting his cousin in the face with a 40-ounce bottle of beer.
Donald S. Adams, 42, was arrested by Fairbanks police on Friday at 12:35 a.m.
According to a criminal complaint, the victim told police that Adams was drunk when he “flipped out” and hit him in the face with the bottle before punching him several times. The man suffered a laceration that went through to the inside of his mouth and was also bleeding from the nose, according to police.
• Steven Elija Ginnis, 30, of Fairbanks was charged with misdemeanor assault for allegedly grabbing his girlfriend by the wrist when she tried to leave during a verbal argument at a Dartmouth Avenue residence on Thursday, according to a criminal complaint.
Troopers responded to the incident and found the woman with a bruised and swollen wrist. The woman told troopers she was scared what Ginnis might do to her. He is also accused of kicking her in the back when she tried to leave.
Multiple charges
• David Davis, 23, of North Pole was charged with felony criminal mischief and fourth-degree assault stemming from an incident on Thursday.
Troopers received a 911 call at 12:38 a.m. from Davis’ mother, who told troopers her son had just assaulted her husband.
Davis allegedly knocked his stepfather down, grabbed him by the hair and hit his head on a concrete floor multiple times. The stepfather had forced Davis’ bedroom door open to check on damage Davis was doing to the room. Davis is also accused of pushing the stepfather in to a wood stove, burning his shoulder.
Davis is accused of causing approximately $1,500 in damage to the house by putting several holes in the drywall and breaking a mirror.
Theft
• Danielle Merrill, 19, of Fairbanks faces felony theft charges for allegedly stealing more than $500 in cash and merchandise while working at Sears.
According to a criminal complaint, Merrill stole $532 from cash registers on at least three occasions between Sept. 29 and Oct. 10.
A district loss prevention officer came to Fairbanks to conduct an investigation and linked Merrill to the crime. She admitted taking the money and some merchandise. Merrill allegedly would take money from the cash register, stick it between two pieces of plastic and pocket it somewhere else in the store, according to the complaint. She also confessed to taking items of clothing and shoes that she stole and then wore during her work shift.
• Michael A. Nikes Jr., 23, of Fairbanks was charged with three counts of second-degree forgery and three counts of third-degree theft for allegedly using a business account he was not authorized to use to purchase more than $800 worth of auto parts and tools from Schuck’s Auto Parts.
The owner of the business contacted police after conducting her own investigation and linking Nikes to the thefts, which occurred on Oct. 2 and Oct. 8 last year.
When confronted by police, Nikes admitted using a fictional name on three receipts to buy the tools and parts, according to a criminal complaint.
Vehicle theft
• Aaron M. Wade, 34, of Fairbanks was charged with felony vehicle theft and failure to stop at the direction of a police officer stemming from an incident almost a year ago.
Wade is accused of stealing a 1984 Subaru on May 10, according to a criminal complaint filed in court last week.
When police attempted to pull him over for taking a turn at a high rate of speed, Wade pulled over and then fled when the officer got out to approach the car in the parking lot of Holm Town Nursery. The officer pursued Wade and witnessed him drive the car over a berm and crash into a ditch. Wade then fled on foot.
Police unsuccessfully pursued him but were able to identify Wade using a cell phone he dropped at the scene of the crash. Wade was arrested about nine hours later when police received a report of a man matching his description trying to break into residences on Turner and Barnette streets.
Wade tried to flee police again, but was restrained by three soldiers who witnessed the chase.
Shots fired
• Police investigated a report of multiple shots fired at a vehicle just past midnight on Sunday in the vicinity of 23rd Avenue and Barnette Street.
A witness told police that a black man with dreadlocks shot a weapon out the back window of a maroon, four-door car as it was driving west on 23rd Avenue. At least four shots were fired from what looked like a 9 mm handgun, the witness reported.
Lt. Tara Tippett with the Fairbanks Police Department said officers responded to the neighborhood and interviewed some people but took nobody into custody.
“There were in fact shots fired and we found evidence to confirm that,” Tippett said.
Stolen vehicle
• A 2001 silver Dodge Intrepid was reported stolen from the parking lot of the Barracuda Bar on Cushman Street on Saturday night.
The vehicle was locked and running when it was stolen, the owner told police when it was reported Sunday. The license plate number is 731UMP.
Reward offered
• Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the individual(s) involved in multiple thefts of credit/debit cards during late December and again in February.
On Dec. 21, two Native females entered the Fudge Pot on First Avenue and stole a purse containing numerous credit cards, debit cards and other forms of identification. The cards were used at five area businesses totaling over $1,200 in purchases.
Late last month, another debit card was reported stolen and almost $1,000 was charged to it at 10 area businesses.
The descriptions of the females involved in the thefts, some of which were caught on video that can be viewed by the public, are consistent. One woman is described as being Native, 25-30 years of age, approximately 5 feet, 5 inches to 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing 190 pounds with black hair. The other woman is also described as a Native, 20-25 years of age, approximately 5 feet, 4 inches to 5 feet, 6 inches tall and 130 pounds. Both women are reported to be light skinned.

Tim Mowry you need to get off the Outdoors Page and onto the Public Safety beat full-time. Your Public Safety reports are so much more thorough and fun to read than anyone else's.
