Alaska Railroad Whistle Stop Tour

The Alaska Railroad Corp. announced it will conduct emergency preparedness programs in a tour along the Railbelt, aimed at preventing and preparing for various emergency situations.

The tour, also sponsored by the Alaska Departments of Environmental Conservation and Health & Social Services, is primarily focused on training emergency responders but also hopes to provide the general public with potentially life-saving information.

Responder training will include hazardous material education and accident response.

The public will be provided with presentations, materials and expert advice on dealing with situations that include wildfires, crime, natural disasters and railroad hazards.

Interior stops include: Healy, April 5; Clear Air Force Station, April 6; Nenana, April 7; and Fairbanks on April 8 - 9.

In appreciation for the public’s attendance, tour sponsors are holding separate door prize drawings for each community. Prizes will include summer season rail tickets for two, posters and first aid kits.
