Denali National Park Subsistence Resource Commission accepting nominations

Published Friday, July 25, 2008

The National Park Service is accepting nominations to fill two vacancies on the Denali National Park Subsistence Resource Commission.

The commission’s main task is recommending a program for subsistence hunting in the park and how to manage subsistence resources in Denali National Park and Preserve.

The nine-member commission meets twice a year at locations in or near the park. Appointments are for three-year terms.

One of the positions is appointed by the South Central Regional Advisory Council, and the other is selected by the Department of Interior. To be nominated by the South Central Regional Advisory Council, a candidate must be a member of the Denali Fish and Game Advisory Committee.

Candidates should be members of a subsistence residence community or have a permit to engage in subsistence activities within Denali National Park.

For more information on the Denali Fish and Game Advisory Committee, contact Jason Rucker at 768-2610.

For an application or additional information for submitting a nomination, contact Amy Craver at 683-9544 or write to amy_craver@nps.gov.
