Published Sunday, July 6, 2008

ANCHORAGE -- Authorities are investigating a drowning in Selawik.

Alaska State Troopers say 40-year-old David Commack of Selawik dove into the water from a boat Friday and never surfaced.

His body was recovered an hour later. Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful and he was later pronounced dead by clinic staff.

Troopers in Kotzebue were notified just before 7:30 p.m. Friday and made the 90-mile trip to the village the next morning.

Troopers say an autopsy will be performed by the state medical examiner's office.
