Coast Guard delivers holiday cheer to Southeast Alaska communities

Published Wednesday, December 24, 2008

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Coast Guard cutter crews have completed their yearly stint as Santa Claus for several Southeast Alaska communities.

Officials say the crew of the cutter Naushon delivered donated blankets, clothing and toys to Angoon as part of the Coast Guard's annual drive.

The crew of the cutter Liberty coordinated the efforts with several Juneau businesses where donations bins were placed in November.

The cutter crews and the Coast Guard station in Juneau coordinated delivery of the donated items.

Beside Angoon, participating communities were Hoonah, Kake, Pelican and Elfin Cove.
