Man allegedly steals $1,000, then loses it at blackjack

Stumble It!FAIRBANKS — An Allakaket man is accused of stealing $1,000 from the town’s store and then losing the money at blackjack.
Trevor Williams, 19, has been charged with second-degree burglary and second-degree theft.
Witnesses say Williams was with several youngsters between the ages of 13 and 19 Sunday morning at the home of the store’s owners when he went into the room where the owners were sleeping and took the keys to the store, according to a criminal complaint filed in court.
He then allegedly went to the store and stole about $1,000 worth of tobacco, candy and soda.
He then allegedly located the cash box back at the home and took $1,000, giving some of it to the other teens with him to keep quiet or bet at blackjack.
Williams told troopers that he had lost all of the money at blackjack. Some of the tobacco was located in nearby woods.
