Published Monday, August 25, 2008

ANCHORAGE -- An East Anchorage home was sustained $200,000 in damages, caused by a propane-fueled fire that also destroyed a carport, travel trailer and vehicle.

The fire started late Friday night when a man inside the trailer knocked over burning candle while he slept and the fire ignited the trailer's propane tank.

Fire department officials say the man woke up in time to escape and wake up the woman inside the Sanya Circle home.

The trailer was parked in the carport of the home.

Officials say the fire and damage were limited to the second floor of the two-story house.
