Good grief, I am not ready for this. Wishing it would be summer once and for all. Guess I will just pack up my garage sale stuff and call it a lost.

What are people complaining about? Why choose to live near the Arctic Circle and complain about too much winter weather? If you want longer summers, move 3000+ miles south. Jeeesh!

allhaileris, from what I understand, the fantastic summers I was told about is what helps counter-balance the harsh winters. Since there wasn't much, if any kind of summer to write home to mom about, and more rain than normal, it's easy to see how people aren't so welcoming for winter to get here already. And since we've been here since mid-December, I was really looking forward to some warm weather before heading back into winter.

I was born and raised in Portland. It's ironic that they are having great summer weather and we're the ones with all the rain lol!

All right! Our first frost, I hope Troopers are ready because you know those speed deemons are going to end on the side of the Rich in the morning.

Hell with the frost I say bring on the snow. If it's going to be cold out it might as well have the white stuff on the ground too. A foot or two would be nice!

Welcome to a year of summer as it use to be. What ever made people think this isn't a normal summer. We just happened to luck out with the warmer ones. Now for the days when the snow and cold were with us in September. How many remember 30 below on Halloween. Or 40 and 50 below for two weeks or more at Christmas. Let's not talk about January. You got to love Fairbanks, never know what you'll get from year to year weather wise.

First the floods and now the cold, see what happens when the Borough Mayor Whitaker decides to go to the Democratic convention and speak on behalf of Obama. Hope we don't have an earthquake on the day of his speech. Ronald Regan must have had a word with the almighty.

i remember a first week of november it was -45f. that was 1990 i think.

usually by this time of august i'm sick of sun and too warm weather and i'm totally ready for snow again. this year i fee cheated. summer is about over already and i haven't even broke out in a sweat yet. this is definately going to have a psychological effect. i'm going to be grouchy all winter.

Look at the bright side, the pot holes will fill with snow and we won't go bump riding in town. The PFD will be big, so people can go to Hawaii two times this winter. All the snow birds will migrate to Arizona sooner. We can save electricity by turning off the freezer and putting things in a cooler in our sub zero deck. We might by pass the flu, hear those viruses hate 50 below. Bear will hibernate sooner and stop using people in Anchorage as bait. Instead sunshine we can enjoy Alpine Glow in August. We can go ice fishing on Labor Day. Best of all, your wife will want to cuddle more to stay warm. I am sure you people can come up with some more reason why we need cold weather.

I dont know about anyone else..but there have been some good things about the cool summer.. I nary saw but a handful of mosquitos..my horse hardly needed bug dope this summer , I hardly had to haul water to water my flowers I planted by the house and my newly planted trees were watered by God Himself and I got to see some awesome rainbows after the rain showers and I had excuses for not mowing my yard for the weeds were way too wet to do a proper job :)
