Public Safety Report - April 30

Published Wednesday, April 30, 2008

The Public Safety Report is compiled from criminal complaints filed in state and federal courts, as well as some police blotter information, trooper dispatches, fire department reports and interviews with public safety officials. Individuals named as arrested and/or charged with crimes in this report are presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.

Theft

• Troopers are investigating a North Pole theft of a brand new 3,000-foot spool of copper wire. The wire is valued at about $3,500 and was taken from the property between 10 p.m. on April 25 and 7 a.m. on Saturday.

Multiple charges

• Clayton Kaigelak, 22, of Nuiqsut was arrested on charges of reckless driving, driving with a revoked license, possession of a controlled substance and warrant arrest after troopers responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident at 343 Parks Highway on April 28.

Kaigelak’s Ford Windstar crossed the centerline colliding with a Dodge Caravan. Kaigelak was the only person to report any injuries.

• A man and woman are facing identical charges of theft, fraudulent use of a credit card and outstanding warrants.

On April 28, Fairbanks police started an investigation of a window being shattered on a vehicle with a purse and laptop stolen.

Jason Bradley Brisson, 31, and Brenda Audry Rodgers, 41, were identified from a local department store surveillance video that showed the pair using one of the victim’s credit cards.

Following their arrest, the vehicle that Brisson and Rodgers were occupying was impounded and searched on April 29. The search turned up property relating to numerous cases of recently reported break-ins during the month of April.

Each was charged with two counts of theft, fraudulent credit card use and three state warrants.
