Fairbanks art students stand out at All-State competition

Pieces by Lathrop High School students Ian Wilkinson and Tegan White-Nesbitt are among the entries in the All-State High School Art Competition, which is currently hanging at Well Street Gallery. The show includes 134 pieces from throughout Alaska, with 11 different art media represented. Wilkinson’s pottery piece was named Best in Show by judges Barry McWayne and Tina Shih, while White-Nesbitt’s “Hang Loose” won the Congressional Award and will spend the next year hanging in the halls of Congress. The reception for the show, which runs through Saturday, will be from 5-8 p.m. tonight.
