JUNEAU, Alaska - A national tea party group that spent hundreds of thousands of dollars supporting U.S. Senate hopeful Joe Miller in his upset primary victory is returning to Alaska.

Levi Russell, a spokesman for the Tea Party Express, said the group plans to launch a new campaign Monday in Anchorage in support of Miller.

Miller, a conservative running on a limited-government platform, upset U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski in last month's GOP primary. The California-based Tea Party Express reported spending more than $550,000 in support of Miller during that race - more than Miller himself raised and spent.

Russell has said the group will do "whatever it takes" to defeat Murkowski as she runs a write-in campaign to try to keep her job. He didn't specify what that means but said the group's goal is to see Miller elected.

Miller is one of three U.S. Senate candidates and political upstarts for which the group is making special fundraising appeals on its website. The others are Christine O'Donnell in Delaware and Sharron Angle in Nevada.

Russell couldn't immediately say how much the group has raised to support Miller since his primary win.

Murkowski has called Tea Party Express an "extremist" group that "hijacked" the state GOP. She has warned supporters to be ready for lies about and attacks on her record - and to be ready to fight back.

Murkowski has said she wasn't prepared during the primary for the impact the group would have. She has vowed to be ready this time, and declared the gloves are off.

In the final stretch, Tea Party Express maintained a physical presence in Alaska, holding, at times, poorly attended rallies around the state, and ran seemingly ubiquitous ads that sought to label Murkowski as a liberal and Republican in name only.

The group and Miller also made claims about Murkowski's position on issues like the federal health care overhaul that she said were either mischaracterizations or lies; she pointed to her record to back her up. Both Tea Party Express and Miller have stood behind their statements and the campaigns they have run.

Murkowski spokesman Steve Wackowski said Tea Party Express doesn't have Alaska's best interests at heart and that Murkowski's campaign "is out to make Alaska better for Alaskans."

Man, all you freedom haters....We KNOW Lisa is way too left to represent Alaska. Her voting record is clearly to the left of John Mcain!! She showed me she doesn't listen to my opinion with her auto-responses to my letters. If the letter addressed the subject I had written about, I may feel different.

Fresh blood in the house and senate can only improve the debate if not the process. I think a few freedom lovers may tell the pre-owned senators we have (lisa included) that We the people must at least be acknowledged when making these decisions(like Obamacare perhaps).

THEY REPRESENT US!! its time to remind them of this.

Hmmm

TTP

1. What state calls Lisa --their-- "3rd Senator"?

Washington claims Lisa as their senator.

2.What state did Lisa just hire Seattle political consultant Cathy Allen, a Democrat to lead her campaign?

Washington. To insure they take more from alskans.

3.What state receives Lisa's "special" touch in supplying fishing jobs & fish that should be alaskans??

Washington. With more out of state commercial fishing & fish related jobs than alaskans.

You are 1 naive fool & totally ignorant of Lisa at best.

Read for yourself what direction Miller wants to take alaska. And it's not Washington State.

Take back the land

Oil taxes, fees and royalties fund more than 85 percent of state government. Alaska has no state personal income or sales taxes. Petroleum, fisheries, tourism and the federal government are the big economic engines.

Miller's idea that the state should own most of the land -- not the federal government -- is far from new in Alaska. Business leaders and Republicans have long complained the feds have "locked up" Alaska, including places like the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and parts of the Tongass National Forest. (They don't often cite Denali National Park, though.) But Alaska's congressional delegation has been more successful at tapping federal programs and appropriations to pay for infrastructure, services and projects, often to the criticism of government watchdogs.

Why does Joe need $550,000 to secure the vote? Oh yeah,...buying votes. Good ole TEAPARTIER politics. Waste of money.

What a hypocrite.

You know damn well, Sarah Palin hates Lisa Murkowski and will do anything to upset Alaska votes. Considering the only supporters of SP are outside Alaska.

Take the money Joe. Yo gonna need some support after defeat.

California Tea Party Express, welocme to Alaska...yes,we want you to tell us to vote for Joe Miller...and later on...come back and start telling us which Governor, and State Legislators to vote for...your billionaire Koch brothers wishes are our commands.Just one question Sirs...did the Koch brothers every use a Federal program while working toward success? Fair warning..if they did,Joe is going to be upset...never mind that you are helping him achieve his next Federal job...it's nothing personal...he just doesn't like folks using Federal funds...even if he has spent the majority of his adult life living off of Federal programs. He doesn't want Alaska to use this Outside money..but,hey!...your California Tea Party Express ...Outside funds..is totally acceptable for Joe...what other States...if it is ok to say...are the Koch brothers attempting to "control"??

But I thought the Koch brothers were our friends. They give us such a good deal on our own oil that they sell back to us at such a nice price. They must be doing this for our own good, right?

Californians Here They Come, Alaska needs help from California!Joe Miller is simply bought and paid like a fish. They must be terrified of the weekly issues that keeping popping up from Joe. So what are the Californians going to do? Bribe everyone? How about a complete Joe makeover -gone the soapy smith look, gone the terrifying get rid of senior programs, -gone getting rid of UI -the second most used program in Alaska, gone getting rid of Medicaid, Denali Kid Care, Medicare, Pioneer's Homes, and Federal Hiway Taxes, and Highways, Bridges, Federal Jobs.

Oh yea and yes the United States will give Joe all the National Trust purchased from the Czar.

What a Lemon.

And the Koch Bros will get Alaska and the English will get the Pebble Mine, and the Canadians will be given the gold, and Alaska's Native Lands will be given back to Joe because they never should have been given away by Ted Stevens in the first place.

Ah, the joy of outside interests spending big $$ to influence local elections in Alaska. What fun! If only we could find a way to Tax the $$ they spend here, we would always have a balanced budget!

If Alaskans are smart enough, they would tell the Tea Party (Koch Brothers) where the hell to go. Tea Party have no business and if Joe Miller can't handle a close race with Lisa, he needs to go. How are they going to pull him out of all his hidden secrets he and his wife has. We are Alaskans, let's act like it and tell the Tea Party to hit the road jack.
