ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Coast Guard is investigating an engine room fire that caused heavy damage and spread to other engineering compartments on a 286-foot fishing vessel.

The March 10 blaze on the Seattle-based American Dynasty occurred about 50 miles northwest of Alaska's Cold Bay.

Coast Guard officials say no injuries were reported among the 137 crew members.

It took crew members three hours to put out the fire.

A Coast Guard cutter escorted the American Dynasty to Dutch Harbor. Officials say Coast Guard investigators are there working with vessel owners to make sure temporary repairs are made before the ship is cleared to return to Seattle for permanent repairs.

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire and extent of the damage.
