ANCHORAGE, Alaska - U.S. Rep. Don Young has introduced a bill aimed at studying the potential for an Arctic deepwater port.

The measure is a companion bill to one introduced in December by U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski.

Young, a fellow Alaska Republican, says the measure will provide for a two-year study to determine strategic capabilities for an Arctic port and a favorable location.

Young says the United States has the opportunity to address the prospects of future industry and can use changing Arctic conditions to its advantage.

This legislation has been referred to the House Armed Services Committee.

How much is this study going to cost? Could we put that money to better use? I am tired of the fraudulent accounting from our government. We are in debt up to our eyeballs, so stop digging and reduce the Federal budget until we can make ends meet. It will absolutely make it tough for those expecting a hand-out (all of those big businesses making money hand over fist for producing a congressional report). It will also put this country back on track and in a position to lead the global markets for the next century.

Is it possible that Arctic conditions could be changing naturally and in accordance with solar activity, and not as a result of man made climate change? A few of you might have missed news reports lately debunking much of the gospel according to Al Gore. But this is the planet Earth, and there are forces at work that continuously change the climate and the topography.

This news will all be reported in the liberal media in a year or two, maybe. Don't feel bad, even Obama seems not to have gotten the news yet that it's all been a con and a hoax.

Geez, talk about your simple hypocrisy. A new arctic seaport only makes sense in the context of reduced ice cover as a result of global warming, which both Young and Murkowsky have been fighting all along. They'd better check with their handlers at Conoco Phillips and Exxon before they commit to this.
