FAIRBANKS — The Arctic Bears completed a three-game sweep of Chugiak/Eagle River with a resounding 10-0 girls high school hockey win on Saturday at the UAF Patty Center.

The Arctic Bears outscored Chugiak/Eagle River 27-3 in the series.

“It was a really good weekend for us,” said Arctic Bears coach Scott Vockeroth. “Today was our best all-around team game of the season.”

Rackell Kowalchuk scored four goals and Kate Burns added three. Alyssa Saccotelli, Jori Hoffman and Elle Kadel also lit the lamp.

Kadel and Zoe Kurth registered three assists apiece. Saccotelli, Hailey Jelinek, Alyssa Norum and Blaque Lewis each had one helper.

Goaltender Stephanie Bluekens had 13 saves in posting her second shutout in three days.

Vockeroth said he was most pleased with the efforts of players like Keri-Lyn Fitzgerald, Keegan Thompson and Amy Olsen, who didn’t get on the scoresheet.

“They controlled the puck and cycled well, but just couldn’t get the puck to go in the net,” Vockeroth said. “I thought they were one of our better lines today, but they couldn’t get on the scoresheet.”

The Arctic Bears will take the next couple of weeks off before heading to Anchorage in early December for a three-game road trip.
