FAIRBANKS — The criminal aspect of a bitter Two Rivers divorce came to a close this month.

Under a plea agreement, Michael Lee Moore, 58, pleaded guilty to child custodial interference, a felony, for taking his 5-year-old son out of Alaska last summer in violation of a custodial agreement with the boy’s mother.

When Moore left the state on a plane to Texas this summer, a warrant was issued for his arrest. His son’s picture was put in a national abducted children database. Moore eventually was arrested in California and his son was returned to Moore’s wife.

Moore was sentenced to three years of probation. His attorney said Moore plans to move to Oregon, where he will be required to be in telephone contact with his probation officer and notify the court if he moves within 60 miles of Fairbanks, according to court log notes. If he violates probation, he faces as much as a year and a half in prison.

His wife attended the Feb. 8 change of plea hearing where she expressed concern about Moore returning to Two Rivers, according to court log notes.

I truly don't understand why this is in the newspaper. This should be a private matter between the Moore's and their attorneys.

Without some good work by his attorney this guy would have been in jail for a while. He should be very happy with his attorney.

I know this guy, he didn't get any jail time because he's a good guy. The guy is a vet, serving in two branches of the military, with a life time of public sevice, and a spotless record. Those of us who live in Two Rivers no who got set up, and who is really to blame. The mother has a history of mental illness, and domestic violence. Everyone here knows the boy loves his Dad, and would like to live with his Dad. This is a matter that was blown way out of whack, and the wrong person took the fall. Nobody ever said Justice was fair and this proves it!

How much did the attorney make?
