FAIRBANKS — A North Pole man was charged Saturday with a series of child sexual abuse offenses that allegedly took place in the 1980s and 1990s.

Robert J. Williams, 57, of North Pole faces felony charges including sexual assault and sexual abuse of a minor.

The victims were girls between 3 and 14 years old and the abuse occurred on a regular basis, according to the criminal complaint against him.

The abuse was reported to Alaska State Troopers in April, and on Saturday, Williams admitted sexually abusing the victims, according to the criminal complaint.

Well, I'm glad to see that the DNM is allowing comments, for whatever reason. This type of behavior needs to be held up for everyone to see, be aware of, and for the community to discuss.

When it's 'kept in the closet' - something we don't/can't talk about, expressing our horror, disgust, and sympathy for the victims, it just makes it easier for the perpetrators to continue their predation, makes it easier to intimidate the victims into feeling shamed and hiding the crime they have suffered.

This type of criminally anti-social behavior is epidemic here, and the best first defense we have as a community is to be aware of how commonly it ocurs, and to see the broad range of individuals that will engage in such gross behavior. That helps clear away the "Oh, I just can't imagine that . . ." that has allowed such abuse to continue in the past, even as there were whisperings of distress from the abused.

I am very proud of whoever came forward and reported this! Victims aged 3 and 14 yoa abused on a regular basis speaks of incredible, long lasting injury to these children, and an extremely ugly personality in the abuser, to cause such harm for his personal gratification.

The DNM allows comments on this evil child molester, but not on the last evil child molester, or the last kiddie porn junkie (same evil, really). I wonder how they determine who gets commented on.

It's hard to believe how evil some people can become---stealing the joy and youth from a child. Didn't anybody ever teach these dogs right from wrong?

Alaska's one of the states that has NO statutes of limitations on child sex abuse.. the victim can be 75 years old.. and can come forward.. as long as there is substantiating evidence, there will be charges filed.

I don't know, if we reported and put in everybody who needs to be in there, it would probably get to be exceedingly crowded in short order. Wouldn't be so 'plush' then.

it is a crying shame that FCC provides plush segregated living arrangements for people like this...quit reporting them....
